Social Housing Changes
If you live in a council or a housing association property, you normally have a tenancy for life. The rent you pay is also cheaper than if you were renting privately,....
Social Policy
When a client contacts a Citizens Advice Bureau, the root cause of their problem is often an unfair policy, practice or piece of legislation.
Just consider the tenant facing eviction because his landlord is in mortgage arrears. Or the woman who was persuaded to take out payment protection insurance on her loan, even though the terms dictated she could never claim on it now retired.
Energy Cost
We are seeing increasing numbers of clients coming to us with unaffordable energy bills. This is an issue that has been taken up by CAB nationally.
Volunteering
Volunteering at the CAB is an interesting and fulfilling experience. You work with people in your local community and use your experience to make a difference.
If you have filled in forms, called someone to enquire or complain, claimed a benefit, dealt with a budget or debt or listened to someone and helped them with their problems, you could make a great adviser.
Lone Parents Benefit
For new claimants, lone parents whose youngest child is aged 5 or above are eligible for jobseekers allowance rather than income support. The rule changed in October 2011, but will be applied to existing claims from April 2012.
Job Vacancy
